Florio Bursary

Once a year, Volunteer Grandparents invites matched volunteers to apply for a Florio Bursary on behalf of their grandchild. To be eligible, we require participating Volunteer Grandparents to recommend a grandchild and provide reasons in writing as to why it is necessary for them to receive financial assistance to help fund an activity, special class, lessons, etc. No academic achievements are required, just a genuine interest and a need.

We would like to thank Mary and Paul Florio for their generous contributions to the bursary fund. Additionally, we would like to invite community members to contribute. Past Recipients of the Florio Bursary:

2009- $600 awarded to Gisele and Chanel to attend special music classes- a one year program

$600 awarded to Annie to further pursue her love for piano- picture

$600 awarded to Emma and Jordan to participate in dance classes.

2008- $200 awarded to Chanel and Gisele to attend dance classes.

$200 awarded to Yi-An and Yi-Van to participate in an art program in Burnaby.

$200 awarded to Brett and family to participate in piano lessons together

2007- Lucas was sent to the Eureka Summer Camp. We have attached a copy of his thank you letter here.
